Optionally as a Windows service it regularly scans and replaces characters allowed by Macintosh but forbidden in windows file names. For the files stored on Mac volumes of NT/2000/XP servers shared by Macintosh and Windows clients, the truncate to 31 characters function allows to view these files from Macintosh more friendly than DOS shortnames. Can rename files andalso sub-folders. Can analyze batches of Macintosh files signatures in selected folders. Setting time interval for update. Each folder can be processed using its specific interval for update Setting performance Stores in Log files the list of files renamed. MacNames works with Microsoft Services for Macintosh (MacFile), Cyan Software MacServerIP or Group Logic ExtremeZ-IP. It is probably the only Windows NT/Windows 2000/Windows XP software that lets you quickly prepare files created in Macintosh and stored on a WinNT, Windows 2000 or Windows XP Server volume for use in a Windows computer or Windows files for use by a Macintosh.
