Publisher's description

PEBundle combines an executable and the modules it depends on into a seamless binary that runs just as before. If the modules do not already exist on the client machine, they are extracted to disk or emulated in memory. Modules can even be downloaded at runtime from an internet site. With PEBundle DLL version problems are reduced, the application is better protected from reverse engineering, there is no need to distribute the modules separately, and your application can run instantly in any environment. Using the remote bundling technology, you need not even distribute runtime dependencies to systems that already have them. PEBundle even compresses the files it bundles with a high performance algorithm so that the application's size is minimized and reverse engineering is made more difficult. Additionally, PEBundle can be used to bundle a script with its interpreter so that it appears to be a compiled executable.

Dear Support Rep,

I note with acute dissatisfaction that my first inquiry about PEBundle was blown-off. Since that time, I did a personal follow-up and came to the conclusion that Bitsum is not operating above-board.

A listing for PEBundle two years ago, on SoftRecipe displayed a price of $29.95. Since that time Bitsum has chosen to make numerous contradictory claims about this product on its website. A Bitsum Technologies page list PEBundle along with many other products. In one place the price was listed as $39.00. When a prospective purchaser clicks on the purchase link, he is blown-away by a whopping price tag of $69.95 for a shareware license and $99.95 for a commercial license. As if that revelation did not beat all, the prospective purchaser is then made aware that Bitsum no longer supports this product and issues the statement "Do not purchase this product if you want customer support or demand reliability."

Aside from offering a lifetime license for an unsupported and possibly unreliable product at more than double its price a mere two years ago, Bitsum is engaging in a download scam whereby the PEBundle trial download is not functional enough to perform the two most important task that a prospective purchaser would be interested in seeing -- the bundling of executable and modules and an ActiveX registration. When bundling is attempted for the first time, only minutes after the download, the user get a message that the trial download has expired. Obviously, purchasing would be the only way of determining whether these tasks can be successfully done.

Lastly, Bitsum has the gall to solicit donation claiming work on behalf of open source. The sum total of this bush-league duplicity is sickening. PayPal, open source and the many shareware download sites may be interested in knowing just what type of a shoddy and slipshod operator Bitsum really is. Therefore, I feel that it is my duty to expose Bitsum for the rapacious and fraudulent developer/vendor that it really is.

In total disgust,

Miles Williams
